What is the biggest health threat for our students during this season? Flu and dehydration. Children are two to three times more likely to get sick with the flu. high fever, major headaches, mucle and body aches, exhaustion, and dry coughs are some of the symptoms you would have if you had flu and/or cold. The difference between cold and the flue is that a cold gives you a stuffy nose, you start to sneeze a lot,k and you have a sore throat because of the coughs. Also, you don't usually get a fever with a cold.
What should our kids do if they are sick? If you are sick, try not to be around people and avoid contact with others. You should be resting instead of being in school; you should be resting in your bed. Try to drink hot fluids to cure sore throats.
If you have a flu stay home. if you are feeling warm or hot, don't come. Feeling weak, tired, or nauseous and vomiting are some other reasons you should stay at home. if you have the flu and you want to come to the nurse you should go only when you have the chills, headaches, cough and muscle and body aches, or are vomiting and tired.
If you are sick, you can bring your own medicine if you go to the nurse first. Your medicine has to have a label with your name on it or a paper signed by your parents.
So remember, if you are sick, try to avoid contact and REST!

November
by Austin Muncrief & Isaah Mancha
Duromg this month, there has been alot going on. One of the best events would be the big feast called Thanksgiving. On November 24th, the lunch room will snack on turkey, mashed potatoes, and more! I can't wait. Thanksgiving break is November 26-28.
It seems like this month is quiet. In sixth grade news the Florida trip is coming up. Ms. Mikesell is still taking cell phones that you don't need. Also, the Go Green Club is recycling white paper.
Seventh grade must feel pretty happy! On December 12, seven silver is going on a field trip to Bosque Del Apache.
For the eighth grade, on October 30th the girls basketball season started. See the sports section for the schedule and support out lady wildcats.
November 4th - Election Day. NO SCHOOL!
November 7th - Mrs. Holguin Dotson's Birthday!
November 14th - Interim grades go out.
November 19th - Onate Explore Test. Onate Explore Test is to prepare students for high school and explore a broad range of options for the future.
December 2nd - MAPS testing starts
